It is an in-depth study of construction, estimation and analysis of buildings, roads, highways, dams, reservoirs, canals, bridges, etc. Only those who have mathematical ability, drawing skills and imagination can excel in this field. Plan, survey and elevation are seriously taught in this branch of engineering. Students will have go on industrial visits as part of their study.
This course is equally amiable to both boys and girls. Those who finish civil engineering can specialize their Master’s in Environmental Engineering, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics Systems, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Construction Management and Structural Engineering. The areas of job opportunities for civil engineers in government sector are: public works, irrigation, Local Self Government (LSG), harbour and electricity board. Opportunities are also galore in private construction companies.
